Bubba Studio Notes:

Recording “Let My Peoples Dance”:

The album was recorded at Sound Stage Studios Nashville in November and December 2007 www.soundstagestudios.com .  Sound Stage has state-of-the-art equipment and is an extraordinarily comfortable studio.  For tracking, the engineer was Jim Cooley assisted by Steven Jones.  Vocals were recorded by Steven Jones.  The “deckerator”, Billy Decker, coordinated the entire recording process and did all the mixes.  You won’t find many engineers with the knowledge, expertise, and speed of Billy!

Once tracking was complete and we had lead vocals done, Sam Hankins arranged the background vocals, assisted by Jane Rhodes.  Let me tell you, there’s a heap of talent between those two!

After background vocals, we overdubbed some lead guitar work and then brought in the horns.  Not just any horns, we enlisted the help of Donnie “Sax” Sanders who brought along a couple of his buddies, Wayne Jackson (trumpet), one of the founding members of the Memphis Horns along with Carl Hale (trombone) also of the Memphis Horns.  If you’ve ever listened to the horn parts on “Soul Man” by Sam & Dave, Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond, or “Suspicious Minds” by Elvis, then you’ve heard the Memphis Horns.  Wayne did most of the horn arrangements and Donnie wailed out the sax solos.  We wanted that ‘60’s soulful feel and these guys delivered
